Suwannee County Conservation District’s FFA Scholarship

 

Application Information

Purpose:

The purpose of the scholarship is to further educate and help prepare high school graduating seniors for advancement in the areas of soil and water conservation, agriculture, or a closely related field. This scholarship is available to the FFA students at Suwannee High School and Branford High School.

Amount of Scholarship: $1,500 awarded to at least one individual from each high school

Qualifications:

A high school senior must meet the following criteria to be eligible for this scholarship:

Have a GPA of at least 3.0

Show potential for academic success.

Show a great deal of leadership potential.

Show a love of the outdoors, the environment, and for our natural resources here in the North Florida region.

Be a high school senior who plans to further his/her education at a four-year university, community college, vocational or trade school in the areas of soil and water conservation, agriculture, or a closely related field.

Plan to enroll in courses full time.

Specifications:

The award will be given to the recipient to be used towards the student’s tuition, books, and other educational expenses.

The scholarship will be given to the student once a course schedule and registration is presented to the high school bookkeeper. The full amount will be split between two semesters.

The scholarship is managed and distributed through the Board of Supervisors of the Suwannee County Conservation District.

Application Requirements:

Submit a completed scholarship application form.

Provide proof of High School GPA of 3.0 or higher.

Five signatures – Student, parents, FFA advisor, and guidance counselor.

Provide a brief summary (120 words or less) explaining how your personal life experiences (in school and at home) has helped develop your leadership ability.

Provide a brief summary (120 words or less) explaining how your personal life experiences (in school and at home) has helped develop your interest in the outdoors, natural resources, or agriculture in our area.

In addition (but not required), you may attach examples of work, or projects that will reinforce your summaries. (i.e., FFA Proficiency or SAE Project)
